House investigators said they had started receiving data from major technology companies
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The leaders of the House Judiciary Committee said Tuesday that it has started receiving data from Facebook, Alphabet, Google, Amazon and Apple as part of their investigations into potential violations of antitrust law firm.
probe is one of several federal, state and congressional aimed to determine whether companies are using their considerable influence in the online marketplace illegally to hurt rivals or infringing competition law.
“We have received the initial filing of the Alphabet, Amazon, Apple and Facebook as part of our investigation. While we do not yet have all the information we asked for, we hope that the four companies will provide information in a short time, “said the leader of the committee in a joint statement.
“We look forward to their continued compliance with the investigation committee,” they said in the statement.
